Westonbirt School Sixth Formers celebrate excellent A Level and BTEC results
Students from Westonbirt School are celebrating excellent A Level results today and an increase in the percentage of top grades secured compared to last year.
Nearly half of entries (47%) achieved A*-A grades, and 71% achieved A*-B grades. Westonbirt is always incredibly proud that students gain places at a range of universities including Exeter, Nottingham, Durham, and Sheffield. As ever, the teaching staff are delighted that our students go on to study diverse degree subjects including: maths; medicine; dental surgery; environmental science; marketing; wildlife conservation and fine art.
Callum Wright, Westonbirt’s Deputy Head of School, achieved A*A*A*A*A in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and Geography and is taking up a place at the University of Durham to study Maths. Callum reflects on his time here and his results;
“I am very, very happy and shocked with my results. I gave my all during the sixth form and the two years have flown by. I couldn’t have made my time at Westonbirt any better and the staff have all been very helpful. I am really looking forward to the independence of university but I know I will also be looking back at sixth form and missing it. I am really excited for whatever is next.”
Chloe Johnson has been at Westonbirt School since joining the Prep School. Chloe achieved A*A*AA in Biology, EPQ, Chemistry and Spanish and is taking up a place at the University of Sheffield to study Dental Surgery.
“I felt really relieved when I got my results and grateful to the school for all of the support I’ve been given. My time there has boosted my confidence and set me up for the future. I am slightly nervous but excited to move on to the next step.”
Emma McAuliffe achieved AAAB in English Language, Psychology, EPQ and Economics and will study Social Policy at the University of Bristol.
“I feel very surprised and very happy and I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do this without my family and friends. Westonbirt is such a family; it’s been lots of fun and I have learnt to take the pressure off myself.”
Having processed the data thoroughly, Deputy Head Academic, Simon Balderson is delighted that the hard work and commitment of this cohort is reflected in an excellent set of academic results.
“Our pupils are prepared for a range of rigorous and challenging courses at university, and we wish them every success in their future academic careers.”
Westonbirt Head, Natasha Dangerfield, is always proud of the community atmosphere that pervades as pupils are prepared for their onward journeys.
“Alongside this excellent set of results, a Westonbirt education is so much more than just grades; it develops leadership, confidence and allows students, well-inspired by strong relationships with their staff, to go out into the world and make an impact.”
