Welcome to Westonbirt Sixth Form

Westonbirt Sixth Form offers a great well-rounded experience which will help prepare you for life beyond school and develop and nurture your talents. We have a wide range of subject and qualifications including A levels, BTECs, Leiths, EPQ and more. Students can tailor a bespoke programme of study to their individual skills and aspirations and there are opportunities to develop leadership skills through our specialist programme, including CCF and DofE, and global service trips to countries such as India, Nepal and Kenya.

Class sizes are small and specialist teachers work extremely closely with students, getting to know pupils individually and helping them achieve their very best academically. In 2024, 47% of A Level grades achieved were at A*/A and 71% at A*/A.   90% of students have secured their first choice university and are progressing to a range of universities including Russell Groups such as Exeter, Bristol, Durham and Nottingham.

Whilst many of our Year 11s continue into our Sixth Form, we also welcome other students from local state, independent and grammar schools, as well as boarding students from both the UK and overseas.  Why not book a visit or Open event and see for yourself?

Meet the Head of Sixth Form

Westonbirt Sixth Form is a place for you to develop your academic, extra-curricular, and social potential. We pride ourselves on providing a warm and caring environment that enables you to be yourself, learn how to handle a wide variety of situations, and achieve the best possible academic results.

It is a testimony to our excellent pastoral care that students come to us from around the world, and even local students often choose to spend their evenings and weekends with us.

Since A Levels were reformed and became linear in 2018, the majority of our students study three A-Levels. Because of the increased dedication and curriculum time this allows, it enables students to achieve the best possible results when it comes to university offers through UCAS. In order to extend a passion for learning, all students begin to undertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) developing independent research skills, and following an area of personal curiosity. In addition to this we offer a plethora of extra-curricular activities in which sixth formers take a leading role.

I like to think of Westonbirt as a place that gives its pupils the opportunity to develop the right kind of independence. Where it comes to academic work, we provide a supportive environment that encourages and fosters self-discipline; where extra-curricular opportunities present themselves, our students develop their leadership potential and organisational skills. In the end, they grow into the sort of young people that universities and employers desire: those with the organisational and social skills to enrich their environment and with the confidence and ability to hold and present themselves wherever they go.
