About Stuart Barnes

Stuart Barnes has spent over 25 years developing cricketers from grassroots to the international arena. His career includes extensive coaching roles with Gloucestershire, Surrey, Somerset, Warwickshire, the England Young Lions, Cricket Ireland and Bangladesh.

Stuart has coached world class sportsmen and women at county, regional, national and international level. From primary school cricketers, development pathway players and international stars, Stuart’s ability to connect with cricketers at all levels to unlock potential and find sporting success is what sets him apart.

He has worked with Tom Curran, leading white ball bowler for Surrey & England, IPL start Sam Curran, Test Captain Ben Stokes, England all-rounder Chris Woakes and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara. Stuart finds greatest satisfaction in helping players of all levels improve their performance and find long term success.

Stuart’s coaching philosophy is built on a simple premise: developing players over the long term. He champions a holistic, system-led approach that focuses on building robust foundations, repeatable habits and consistent standards. He is renowned for his calm, authoritative presence and his ability to simplify complex technical concepts.

“Across three days, players will be immersed in a genuine high-performance and elite environment. We aren’t just going to hit and bowl cricket balls in a net; we are going to look at the technical, tactical, physical and mental elements of the game. We will challenge and support you, and show you what it takes to train and think like a professional.”

FAQs

Is the Stuart Barnes Cricket Performance Camp suitable for all experience levels?

The Stuart Barnes Cricket Performance Camp is aimed at developing players ages 11 – 17 years who are playing at club level, representing their school  and/or on a developing player pathway.

What’s the difference between the day camp & residential?

Cricketers taking attending the day programme will enjoy a full-day of cricket and bowling coaching from Stuart and his team of expert coaches.  Those attending the residential will enjoy a full evening programme of workshops delivered by Stuart, enjoy use of the pool and 9-hole golf course and with fully catered accommodation in shared single-sex boarding rooms within the beautiful grounds of Westonbirt School.

Will players get individual feedback at the Stuart Barnes Performance Camp?

Absolutely – expect hands on coaching, detailed feedback and tips how to improve your technique and elevate your game.

Do girls and boys train together and will players be grouped by age?

Where appropriate for the session, male and female players will train together within age-groups. At other times players may come together to watch or participate in line with the aim of the session.  The safety of students is of utmost importance within the active coaching sessions.
