Westonbirt School opens its doors for prospective new Sixth Formers
We’re inviting prospective students and their families to come to our Sixth Form Open Evening on Friday 22 September from 6-8pm. The evening will include a presentation from Hannah Ash, Head of Sixth Form, refreshments, a chance to meet with current sixth form students and the opportunity to talk with staff about subjects on offer.
We are delighted that, this year, 41% of our students achieved A*/A grades at A Level and progressed to a range of destinations, including Oxford and Russell Group universities. Our Sixth Form offers a wide range of qualifications including A Levels, BTECs, Leiths Certificate and EPQ, as well as a diverse co-curricular programme allowing students to design a flexible and bespoke curriculum. We believe that being able to tailor courses and co-curricular opportunities to best suit the individual enables us to get the best from each of our cohort.
Our leadership programme is popular here at Westonbirt Sixth Form, and incorporates Duke of Edinburgh, Combined Cadet Force, US exchange visits as well as opportunities to develop leadership skills through global service trips to countries such as India and Nepal.
One of our main priorities in Sixth Form is enabling young people to become more independent and we strive to provide the perfect balance between supporting students to achieve their potential and offering a stepping stone to university living; students enjoy communal Sixth Form study and social spaces, study bedrooms, a Sixth Form Café and bar and access to our leisure centre, fitness suite and 9-hole golf course. Westonbirt’s Year 13 boarders stay in an offsite boarding house, which further develops independence and preparation for university.
Hannah Ash, Head of Sixth From, says:
“Being Head of Sixth Form at Westonbirt is easily the most fulfilling job I have had. We are fortunate to attract such positive, hardworking, kind and enthusiastic young people who make every day a joy to come to school. Even as we grow, these sentiments hold true. I am proud of the community we have built here at Westonbirt and I look forward to welcoming you to learn more about what we can offer.”
Each year our Sixth Form welcomes both students who have continued with us, as well as new entrants from local state, grammar and independent schools. To register for our Open Evening, please visit: westonbirt.org/open-days-visits/
