About Alex King

Former Wasps and England fly-half and former Assistant Coach for Wales Rugby, Alex King has enjoyed a long and successful career in rugby. With five England caps, including scoring a try on his debut against Argentina in 1997, he was an integral part of Wasps’ Heineken Cup victories and helped the club secure multiple Premiership titles. He excelled at the highest level of the club game, demonstrating how consistent performance and professionalism define a successful playing career.

Following his retirement as a player, Alex transitioned into elite-level coaching, most recently with Wales Rugby. His coaching philosophy champions creative, confident attacking play and encourages developing players to trust their instincts and embrace intelligent, expressive rugby.

Renowned for his tactical clarity, game management and high-performance standards, his journey is especially inspiring and shows that dedication, versatility and strategic thinking are just as important as on-field ability. Alex now leads a team of professional coaches at the brand-new Alex King Rugby Residential, launching this August at Westonbirt School.

Yes - players are grouped by age and ability, with position‑specific coaching and appropriate progressions for each athlete.

Absolutely. Expect hands‑on coaching, detailed corrections and clear takeaways to implement post‑camp.

Where appropriate for the session aim boys and girls will train together, otherwise they will be split by groupings that make coaching most effective and safe.

Off‑Pitch

  • Recovery protocols you can replicate at home (mobility, contrast, sleep)
  • Nutrition education: fuelling for sessions, recovery snacks, hydration
  • Mindset & preparation: routines, focus, confidence, handling pressure
  • Professional habits: self‑care, accountability, and goal tracking
