What are the aims of the course?

Building on (I)GCSE physics or GCSE combined science/IGCSE double award, A Level physics explores the nature, behaviour, and mathematics of the universe, from the subatomic to the cosmic, while studying the work of some of history’s greatest minds, including Einstein, Newton, Curie, and Bell. Students develop key skills in problem solving, reasoning, numeracy, ICT, and communication, while also examining the real-world applications and implications of physics. The subject complements many others, including mathematics, chemistry, biology, economics, technology/product design, computer science, and geography, and opens the door to a wide range of further study and career opportunities.

Are there any specific entry requirements?

Students will need to have achieved a Grade 6, or above, in (I)GCSE Physics, or GCSE combined science/IGCSE double award, as well as a Grade 6+ in (I)GCSE mathematics, in order to access the A Level physics course.
