What is the Westonbirt Edge

At Westonbirt, Years 5 and 6 are a time of discovery, challenge and growing independence.

The Westonbirt Edge is our signature programme designed to broaden horizons and develop the confidence, creativity and capability children need for senior school and beyond.

Through specialist teaching, hands-on experiences and opportunities beyond the traditional curriculum, the Westonbirt Edge helps pupils develop:

  • Academic curiosity
  • Creative confidence
  • Leadership skills
  • Practical life skills
  • Resilience and independence

Pupil opportunities

From robotics and engineering to drama, sport, cookery and first aid, every child is encouraged to discover new strengths and develop the confidence to thrive.

At the heart of Westonbirt Edge is a collaborative approach to learning, with specialist staff from both Westonbirt Prep and Westonbirt Senior contributing to the programme. This allows pupils to experience a breadth of teaching styles, subject expertise and facilities while remaining firmly supported within the Prep School environment.

As pupils progress through Years 5 and 6, these experiences help build the confidence, independence and familiarity that make the transition to senior school feel both seamless and exciting.

Our 5 Pillars

The Westonbirt Edge is underpinned by five key pillars, carefully designed to give every child the opportunity to grow in confidence, discover new interests, and develop essential skills across a wide range of important attributes.
