21st August 2025
Westonbirt School is celebrating an impressive set of GCSE results with 35% of pupils achieving top grades 9–7 (A*–A equivalent), the best in three years, marking a continued rise in attainment with a four-percentage point increase from 2024.
More than half of pupils (56%) celebrated with Grades 9-6, an impressive 10% increase on 2023 results. For pupils, these results reflect both hard work and the personalised support of the Westonbirt community. Sophie, put her success down to the support of her teachers:
“The staff are so encouraging, they’ve really helped us through this time, offering lots of extra-curriculars and constant academic support. It’s a really nurturing environment.” Sophie will continue her journey into Westonbirt Sixth Form to study Maths, Economics and History.
Meanwhile, Teddy, who joined Westonbirt in Year 3 and achieved four 9s, four 8s and a 7, reflected: “I’ve had such a good experience here, I’ve really enjoyed my time at Westonbirt, the teachers have been amazing. I’m looking forward to continuing to play Rugby in the Sixth Form, and I’ll be studying Maths, History and Spanish.”
Despite a UK-wide record of pupils failing English and Maths, Westonbirt celebrated strong outcomes, with 96% achieving grades 9–5 in English and 91% in Maths.
Head of Westonbirt School, Natasha Dangerfield, said: “I am really proud of this cohort and the exceptional results they have achieved. What is most exciting, though, is that so many of our pupils are looking forward to beginning their Sixth Form journey in September. GCSEs are not just an end point, but a stepping stone, and these results give our pupils the confidence to start their next chapter with ambition and self-belief.”
Celebrating individual stories and collective success, Westonbirt’s results highlight the strength of its nurturing, holistic approach to education – preparing pupils not only for academic achievement, but also for a future full of opportunity.
