Westonbirt Sixth Form Entry Requirements

We are delighted to welcome both new and existing pupils into Westonbirt Sixth Form.

We have minimum entry requirements in place for those studying with us.  There is a significant step-up between study at GCSE and A Level/BTEC Level 3, and these have been introduced to ensure that pupils have achieved an appropriate level of knowledge which will then provide the best possible chance of success in their chosen subjects.  It is important that all pupils are aware of the entry requirements before selecting study options.

All applicants will need to meet all of the following requirements for entry into Westonbirt School Sixth Form:

  • A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 5; OR five GCSEs at grade 4 (or overseas equivalents)
  • A grade 6 should also be achieved in a chosen subject if previously taken at GCSE
  • A grade 7 in GCSE Mathematics is also required to take Further Mathematics at A Level
  • If you have not achieved a minimum of grade 4 in GCSE English Language and Maths, then you will need to revisit these subjects.
