Westonbirt celebrates strong GCSE results as pupils achieve top grades
Westonbirt pupils are celebrating another impressive set of exam results today, with just under 40% of all GCSE grades attained being 9-7, and an impressive one in five grades being 8 or 9, the equivalent of an A*. This continues a steady upward trend in academic achievement in public examinations and sets Westonbirt students up to be able to pursue an exciting range of ambitious 6th Form options. The results achieved represent the culmination of months of commitment and dedication, backed by outstanding support and encouragement of our staff.
Among the many strong individual performances, with much of the cohort performing well beyond their own ambitious goals, Holly and Tom stood out as exceptional. Holly was incredibly moved by her achievement of ten grade 9s and is now planning to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at Westonbirt and Tom, who earned eight grade 9s alongside two grade 8s will also be continuing at Westonbirt to study Physics, Politics, Maths and Further Maths.
Reflecting on his well-deserved success Tom said: “I am thrilled with my results. Thank you to all the teachers for everything they did for me, including all the past paper marking and support.’’
The results continue the positive academic trajectory at Westonbirt, following the school’s strongest set of Upper Sixth results in recent years. The School’s A Level cohort celebrated last week with 52% of all grades achieved being A*-A or equivalent.

While this is a pivotal moment for our students, it is not the end of their Westonbirt journey. Sixth Form now awaits, with its range of exciting opportunities and challenges. Westonbirt prides itself on being able to offer an incredibly broad and interesting Sixth Form curriculum and from this autumn, students will also be able to study A level Politics and Design & Technology for the first time alongside our more established and popular courses
Head of Westonbirt School, Dina Porovic, said: “Every pupil’s educational journey is unique. I am incredibly proud of the young men and women who collected their results this morning. They are the next generation of role models here in our Westonbirt Sixth Form and I am so excited to see the positive impact they will have on the entire school community. Results like these provide an incredibly strong platform from which to build dreams and I am endlessly grateful to the wonderful Westonbirt staff for all they do to get the very best out of each and every pupil.”
