Welcome to our weekly update, where we celebrate the breadth of school life at Westonbirt. Each edition offers a snapshot of the learning, achievements and wider opportunities that define our community. This week’s edition is an enrichment week special!
Our Year 7 pupils are having a wonderful week at Château du Broutel, enjoying a fantastic programme of cultural experiences while putting their French language skills into practice.
So far, they have explored the historic town of Rue, ordered treats with confidence in local boulangeries and pâtisseries, discovered the fascinating world of snails during a visit to a local snail farm, and learned about the art of chocolate making at a traditional French chocolatier. They have also enjoyed time at the beach and have been rehearsing for, and performing, their music for residents at a local care home, sharing the joy of music with the community.
A brilliant week of language, music, cultural exchange and unforgettable memories!

Our Year 12 students spent the morning volunteering at a local playgroup, helping to clear and tidy the Forest School area before joining the children for games and activities.
The experience gave pupils the opportunity to support the local community while demonstrating teamwork and leadership. Their enthusiasm, maturity and willingness to get involved made a lasting impression, and the playgroup staff were full of praise for their positive attitude and caring approach.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Sixth Form students represented the school and embraced the opportunity to make a meaningful difference!
As part of Enrichment Week, our Year 10 Drama pupils enjoyed a fantastic workshop with drama educator, director, writer and producer Poppy Angel, a graduate of MetFilm School.
Drawing on her experience working in the industry, Poppy led pupils through a range of practical exercises, including devising, improvisation and script work, encouraging them to develop their creativity and performance skills.
It was a brilliant opportunity for pupils to learn from someone actively working in the performing arts industry, providing valuable insight into the many pathways a career in drama can offer!
Our pupils have enjoyed an exciting residential at the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre, taking part in a fantastic programme of water-based and team-building activities.
Throughout the trip, they have challenged themselves through sailing, kayaking, canoeing and the ever-popular Beach Olympics, developing resilience and teamwork along the way.
The residential has been a fantastic experience, encouraging pupils to step outside their comfort zones while embracing new challenges together.
Enrichment Week has been full of creativity, collaboration and adventure for our pupils, with a fantastic range of activities taking place both on and off campus.
Pupils have put their engineering skills to the test by designing and racing paper Formula One cars, showcased their creativity through cupcake decorating and sewing workshops, and tackled an exciting library escape room.
Year 11 pupil Jemima F has gifted the Learning Support department a stunning peacock mural as a thank you for the care, encouragement and support the team has shown her over the years.
As our boarders enjoyed their final week at Westonbirt before heading off on their summer adventures, there was no shortage of sunshine, water fights, padel, volleyball, summer parties and World Cup watch parties.
It’s been another action-packed week in sport at Westonbirt, with fixtures across a range of teams. You can view the full set of fixtures and results here.
There’s been so much happening both in and beyond the classroom this week! Explore more of the adventures and memorable moments below.
