Founded in 1930, Westonbirt Alumni Association is the membership organisation for former pupils and staff of Westonbirt School. The Association helps alumni and former staff of Westonbirt keep in touch with each other around the world and offers a social programme, which includes events at Westonbirt and other venues.
The Association has thousands of members, spanning many generations and many continents. The Association also plays an active role in supporting current students through the Memorial Bursary, mentoring opportunities and careers events.
The School took over the running of the Association in Summer 2023.
Lifetime membership to the Westonbirt Association is currently £100, payable with the first term’s fees. Members are welcomed to the Association at a special celebratory Leavers’ afternoon during their final term of Year 13.
Former students or staff who had not secured membership at the time of leaving the school, may join any time afterwards, also on receipt of a £100 fee.
The Association would love to hear your news and share updates from each year group through their annual news publication and newsletters. We collate news items from Easter through until late August each year and aim to publish the Association News by November.
We are now accepting items for the 2025 Association News publication; please submit your item here:
Members sometimes ask what they should send through – typical entries include information on their careers, family life, travel; interests and hobbies; and of course any reunions you have!
If you would like to pre-order a printed copy of the 2025 version then please complete the form below and a copy will be reserved for you. Payment will be requested from you once the cost is known. This also includes postage and packing (cost for 2024 was £17.00)
Association reunions take place at Westonbirt every year and, on occasions, in London and other regional locations.
Members who would like to arrange their own reunions are also welcome to book an event or tour of Westonbirt and the school will accommodate all requests as far as possible within the constraints of school life and staff availability.
Please give at least a week’s notice of your visit and note that safeguarding rules mean that you need to be accompanied at all times whilst on site.
Please contact us to arrange a reunion event or for further information on scheduled Association events.
The Westonbirt Association manages a special bursary fund set up in the late 1940s in memory of the five former Westonbirt pupils who lost their lives during the Second World War while they were members of the forces, civil defence or nursing services. Each year the fund gives a bursary to help fund the Sixth Form fees of one or more pupils in need.
To be considered for the Westonbirt Association Memorial Bursary, pupils must be nominated by the school in the spring of their Year 11. Candidates complete an application form and are interviewed by a panel from the Association. Once awarded, payment is usually made for both years of the recipient’s Sixth Form. Since the foundation of the Memorial Bursary, the Association have helped more than eighty pupils in this way. Donations are always welcome to increase the value of the award and can be made by contacting us.
This annual Association Award is an exciting new initiative that is open to all Westonbirt Association members up to the age of 26, including current 6th formers who may apply for a project to be undertaken after they have completed their education at Westonbirt e.g. a gap year. It is awarded to fund or part fund an endeavour or endeavours of social value, for the greater good of others, and to help develop the recipient’s skills for life. A maximum of £2500 may be awarded in one year.
You can find the rules and terms for the award here.
The deadline for applications is set for the end of Spring Half Term, after which interviews will be arranged.
Applicants will be asked for detailed plans and a financial plan prior to interview. You can access an application form here.
Westonbirt are delighted to announce The June Jacobs Awards and The June Jacobs Grant. Westonbirt alumna, June Jacobs was a fearless campaigner who did great work for the causes she adopted, including the rights of women and oppressed minorities around the world, and the cause of peace in the Middle East.
June, who was also a dearly loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sadly passed away in 2018 at the age of 88. Her family have generously endowed The June Jacobs Social Justice Awards and Grant to Westonbirt School in her memory. Read more about the awards and her amazing legacy here.
