Myles Nash announced as new Deputy Head Pastoral
We are thrilled to announce that Myles Nash will be joining us as our new Deputy Head Pastoral in January. Myles joins us from Wymondham College, the country’s largest state boarding school, where he served as Assistant Principal. His recent achievements include a double ‘Outstanding’ grading in the November 2023 Ofsted Inspection.
With a rich background in boarding and the independent sector spanning two decades, Myles brings valuable experience to our community. Prior to Wymondham, he spent seven years at Leighton Park School, an HMC boarding and day school, where he held various roles within boarding: Housemaster, Senior Housemaster, and Director of Boarding. Under his leadership, the boarding team achieved ‘Excellent’ ratings in two ISI Inspections, the latest in 2021.
Boarding holds a special place in Myles’ heart and has significantly influenced his perspective on pastoral care. Myles says:
‘As Deputy Head Pastoral, I believe in taking a values-led approach to pastoral work, drawing on my deep understanding of boarding and the diverse experiences of students, both inside and beyond the classroom. Only a small percentage of what we do as teachers happens in the classroom, as teaching extends far beyond the confines of the classroom and encompasses the entirety of the school experience. The cultivation of character education stems from the intricate tapestry that we create as a school community, enabling our students to become the best versions of themselves.’
Before Leighton Park, Myles served as Head of Faculty at Stowe School and taught at Sutton Valence School and Wycombe Abbey. His teaching expertise includes Product Design, ICT, and Games, and he has held pastoral roles within several boarding houses. In addition to his dedication to education, Myles is an avid sportsman, having coached hockey, rugby, and cricket to 1st team levels for both girls and boys.
Myles, along with his wife and two daughters, is excited to join the Westonbirt community in January, and we look forward to welcoming them in 2024.
