Heads Blog – 12 June 2026
As the exams season draws to a close, and with the end of the academic year firmly in sight, it has been wonderful to begin to look back at all that has been achieved and to look forward to all that is yet to come.
It was an absolute delight to see the Year 6s in action on Thursday evening performing “Shakespeare Rocks”. The sense of joy and fun was so evident and as I scanned across the stage in the numerous chorus songs, it was so heartwarming to see each personality coming to life, absolutely owning both the moment and their character. The quality of performance, the professionalism on stage, and the beauty of some standout voices promises for some absolutely spectacular future senior school productions.
It was of course wonderful to then see the same faces in the Senior School the following day for our Year 7 transition event. A year group already brimming with spirit and character, I caught up with them at the point when they were intelligently, enthusiastically and robustly interrogating our senior teachers and our Study Ones about life at the school. It is already very clear that they will have so much to offer to the Westonbirt spirit and we look forward to welcoming them properly in September.
Elsewhere, we were treated to a stunning art and design exhibition of our GCSE and A-level pupil work. The soiree was a celebration of creativity and sustained effort over two years and the pieces on show demonstrated an incredibly deep personalised approach. The individuality and personality of the artists and designers shone through spectacularly and it was wonderful to see the pupils take such incredible pride in their work and their journey. For many of our Year 13s, these courses have formed the foundations for further study in architecture, engineering and fashion and we look forward to seeing them flourish at university and beyond in the years to come.
Westfest and the Three Counties Show trip on Friday marked the start of our summer adventures and we are incredibly grateful to Miss Rhead for organising such a joyful event that celebrated friendship and the pleasure of eating good food, playing together and relaxing collectively in our beautiful grounds.

There are so many further things to look forward to over the coming three weeks, including the KS3 production of Thirteen featuring a 40 pupil strong cast, a Sixth Form induction day, an action-packed Sports Day, a dance show, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions at all levels, and of course our Enrichment week and our Leavers’ Association tea.
