Mobile Phone Policy
We want you to be less reliant on your mobile phone and really enjoy your surroundings, making new friends and socialising!
For this reason, mobile phones are not permitted during the majority of the day, and are only handed out at specific times.
Mobile internet is not always available in the school, but you will be able to use the school’s Wi-Fi network. We will help you get connected, as it’s not as simple as connecting to other Wi-Fi networks.
You can normally use your mobile phone:
- In the late afternoon and in the evening at specific times
- On excursions
- In emergencies
Phones must be handed in to a staff member (switched off) before bedtime.
If they need a charge, then please hand in the charge cable also. Keep the label we provide on the phone and the charger until the end of your stay.
Notice to parents
Please could we ask all parents to temporarily remove any parental control restrictions from their child’s phones prior to coming to Westonbirt School. This is because the internet filtering in place requires us to install a certificate onto each device to allow the filtering and monitoring of internet traffic whilst they are connected to our network. This does not have any impact on the device, and does not allow us to track or monitor anything outside of our network. Once the certificate has been installed, parental controls can be reenabled if you wish.
