Be part of the Curious Minds Hub, a series of Gifted & Talented Workshops at Westonbirt Prep School designed to inspire curiosity, stretch imaginations, and spark a love of learning!
Now open to children in Year 4 and Year 5 from nearby primary schools, these engaging workshops provide the perfect opportunity to join other like-minded children for fun-filled days of discovery, creativity, and challenge. Through exciting hands-on activities and inspiring experiences, pupils will develop new skills, build confidence, and explore their interests in a stimulating and supportive environment.

Launched in September 2025, these fun, hands-on workshops are taught by subject experts in dedicated facilities, and encourage children to think creatively, solve problems, and explore new ideas in a supportive and engaging environment.
Originally for Year 4 children, we’re excited to expand the programme to include Year 5 children this year!

A day of exciting activities and challenges to stretch and inspire children who are eager to push their learning further!
Step into a world where words come alive! The Curious Minds Hub Creative Writing Workshop is a celebration of storytelling, imagination, and expressive language. Through playful prompts and guided activities, children will learn to craft compelling characters, build immersive settings, and structure imaginative narratives. Along the way, they’ll sharpen their descriptive writing, expand their vocabulary, and discover the joy of sharing their unique voice with others.
Step into a world where curiosity meets discovery at the Curious Minds Hub STEM Workshop! Through exciting experiments, engineering challenges, technology activities, and problem-solving tasks, children will explore how things work and why they work. They’ll develop logical thinking, creativity, resilience, and teamwork while testing ideas, learning from mistakes, and finding innovative solutions. Along the way, they’ll discover the excitement of STEM and build confidence in thinking like scientists, engineers, and inventors.
Future workshop subjects and dates will be confirmed and communicated in early 2027.
Curious Minds Hub launched at Westonbirt Prep in September 2025, and more than 80 children from local primary schools visited across the academic year to take part in these inspiring, engaging workshops taught by subject specialist teachers across the academic year.
Our very first workshop focused on Creative Writing and was a celebration of storytelling, imagination, and expressive language.
Named The Imagination Emporium the workshop was inspired by children’s book The Nowhere Emporium by Ross MacKenzie and led by our Head of English, Miss Mole. From the moment they arrived, the children eagerly dived straight into their activities, entering their classroom which had been transformed into a magical emporium filled with mystery objects to the sound of atmospheric music and dimmed lighting.
Learning activities were centred around helping the children establish ideas to help them create an exciting new magical world before drawing all their ideas together to write a short story entitled Welcome to My Imagination Emporium.
Subsequent workshops explored Science, Art and Mathematics, each designed to move beyond the traditional curriculum and allow children to experience subjects in new and exciting ways.
