The Easter Revision Programmes at Westonbirt School are for students in Years 10 – 13 who are studying for their GCSEs and A-Levels and are keen to consolidate their end of year learning and prepare for the forthcoming exams. Across the Easter holidays, students can sign-up for Tutor-Guided Revision, delivered in small groups, at a maximum of two subjects per week (a half day per subject).

Alternatively, students can opt for the Independent Study and Wellbeing programme. Facilitated by dedicated support staff, this programme gives independent learners the opportunity to revise in a supported and focussed environment and includes access to a variety of personal development workshops.

Students can also make the most out of both options by attending a half day of both the tutor-led and self-study sessions.

The programmes are designed to cater for a variety of learners, such as students seeking extra academic support before exams, those who prefer a quiet space for independent study with staff available for revision assistance and wellbeing support, or those who thrive in a focussed study environment alongside friends and peers.

Tutor-Guided Revision

The Tutor-Guided Revision programme is designed for students who would like to consolidate their subject specific learning in small peer groups, led by a tutor. This enables students who may still have areas of difficulty in certain subject areas to have direct tutor input, bridging any gaps in understanding. Mock exams papers are a practical yet important feature of this tutor-led provision, supporting students to better develop their exam techniques.

Students are split into GCSE and A-Level classes, with tutors able to give targeted support in small groups and individually. Small class sizes also accommodate for differences in exam boards and give tutors the flexibility to cover overarching themes and topic areas, as well as helping students consolidate learning on areas specific to their own needs.

 Independent Study and Wellbeing

The Independent Study and Wellbeing programme is ideal for students who prefer to revise independently in a focussed and encouraging environment. On this programme, students will have designated study periods each day, during which dedicated staff will be available to provide pastoral care and support with revision strategies. Additionally, students will have the option to take part in enrichment activities, including sports and arts, and personal development workshops.

Not only do these extra-curricular options offer a break from studying but they are specifically designed to support and enrich student wellbeing during the intensive exam preparation period. The personal development and wellbeing workshops cover a range of themes, including effective exam preparation strategies, professional development sessions and how to prioritise personal wellbeing both now and in their life beyond school.

Combination

Alternatively, students can do a combination of both programmes, which allows students to access Tutor-Guided support for one academic subject, as well as participating in the Independent Study and Wellbeing Programme (half days of each).
