Westonbirt School celebrates formal opening of Sedgwick Junior Boarding House
The school is thrilled to announce the official opening of its brand-new junior boarding house, Sedgwick. Last week, Westonbirt hosted an Open Evening last week, welcoming current and prospective parents to explore the impressive facilities.
Visitors were welcomed to the event to view the lovely accommodation, meet boarding staff and sample delicious food from Chapter One, the school’s new catering company. The formal opening and ribbon-cutting was performed by special guest and alumna, Best, visiting from Thailand, who boarded at Westonbirt. The event marked a significant milestone for the school community.
Parents were delighted by the spacious rooms, modern decor, and homely feel of Sedgwick. The house accommodates 10 boys and 12 girls from Years 6-8, fostering a sense of independence and camaraderie. Boarding in Year 6 is an exciting development for younger pupils, who will be able to gain greater independence and maturity ahead of the move to Senior school and enjoy the warmth and inclusivity of our boarding community. Sedgwick’s location near the Sports Centre ensures easy access to various activities, allowing boarders to immerse themselves fully in school life. Sedgwick officially opens to boarders from September 2024 and many of the 22 beds are already taken.
Lisa Bradbury, Head of Boarding said:
“Sedgwick represents a new chapter in our boarding community. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.”
This week, the school will be welcoming our first groups of Year 5 and 6 pupils for taster sessions. Anyone interested in boarding at Westonbirt, should contact the school, via admissions@westonbirtschool.uk to arrange a visit.
