What are the aims of the course?
Classical civilisation is a brilliant and broad humanities course that teaches literature, art history and philosophy through the lens of the classical world of Ancient Greece and Rome. As an essay subject, students learn how to craft detailed and compelling arguments, and the content that students study is deeply connected to our modern world. Students finish the course with an intricate knowledge of ancient culture, but also with excellent transferable skills such as communication, complex analysis and critical thinking.
Are there any specific entry requirements?
Students should have a Grade 6 in English Literature or from another GCSE humanities subject.
