What are the aims of the course?
A Level 3D design is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future in architecture, furniture design, interior design, theatre or set design, and fashion. The course aims to develop your ability to communicate design ideas through research, ideation, prototyping, iterative development, and the manufacture of final outcomes. Ignite a passion for design while developing a wide
range of skills, including:
• Research and inquiry
• Critical thinking and analysis
• Evaluation and reflective learning
• Drawing by hand and using CAD software
• Prototyping and iterative design
Prototyping is a core element of the course, through repeated iterations, students will refine their skills and learn to manufacture high-quality, well-resolved products.
Are there any specific entry requirements?
To fully participate in the course, we recommend a minimum of Grade 5 in design technology or art at GCSE.
