Westonbirt Association’s annual carol concert provides a festive start to December
On Saturday 2nd December, we held the Alumni Association’s carol concert at St Dionis Church, Parsons Green in London. This annual event proved to be a wonderful way to start December and the beginning of the festivities and was attended by a range of association members, staff, students, parents and grandparents. Despite an early start, the students were in fine voice, performing a range of vocal and instrumental solos, group pieces, bible readings and poems, leaving the audience moved and thrilled. Pieces included ‘Do you have room?’ by Shawna Edwards and the hymn ‘Sussex Carol’. The service was followed by refreshments of juice, mulled wine and mince pies.
This was a wonderfully festive occasion, which brought together our current students with alumni members from across a wide range of years, uniting the present with the past and showing the power of connections. It was also lovely to see groups of friends reunited and reminiscing with Westonbirt staff. One Association member who was present, left the school in 1949 and her granddaughter, who also attended, left in 2018, nearly 70 years later.
A huge thank you to all of the alumni member, students, organising staff, parents and church staff- a truly memorable event.
