Lacrosse
Who Participates: Year 7-13 Girls
Term(s) Offered: Autumn and Spring terms as well as a more relaxed provision in the Summer Term for continuous development
What’s offered: Westonbirt has lacrosse teams at U12, U13, U14, U15 and Senior level. The students learn and train in curriculum games lessons, lunch-time practices and after-school clubs. There is a full and varied fixture list across the Autumn and Spring terms for all Senior and Junior teams. Matches are played on Saturdays, and occasionally during the week, with a balance of home and away fixtures. We enter a U13A, U15A and Senior U19A team into the National School Championships each year in March. There are also close links with National and Regional Academies for students to move up the England Lacrosse talent pathway. We also take a lacrosse tour of the east coast of the United States which is on a three-year cycle.
Facilities: There are four well-maintained lacrosse pitches across various locations around the grounds. The main pitches are located in front of the Main House with fantastic views of our parkland. In addition to this, the Sports Hall is often used for Wall Ball and alternative training sessions, whilst our brand-new Astro turf is used for evening training sessions in the winter months when the light is reduced. The students can also make use of our refurbished gym facilities and have experienced staff available to them to supplement their strength and conditioning training.
