Westonbirt unveils fantastic new junior boarding house
We’re thrilled to announce the grand unveiling of our new Junior Boarding House, after a seven month programme of refurbishment. Catering for the needs of our 10, 11, and 12-year-old boarders, Sedgwick House now boasts contemporary and comfortable accommodation, elevating the boarding experience to new heights.
Sedgwick serves as an integral part of the Westonbirt boarding journey. Students can commence their boarding experience with us as early as Year 6, either whilst attending Westonbirt Prep School or upon entering the Senior School in Year 7. This journey extends seamlessly through our senior boarding provision, culminating in the vibrant community of Holford House, our co-educational Year 13 residence located 4 miles from the school on the outskirts of Tetbury, which prepares our oldest students for independent life and studies.
A Closer Look at Sedgwick
At Sedgwick, we’re dedicated to providing our youngest boarders with a boutique boarding experience like no other. With seven multi-bed boarding rooms, we can now accommodate up to 10 boys and 12 girls, ensuring every child feels at home within our nurturing environment. Our shared bedrooms promote social interaction and help students settle into the boarding environment, meaning that there is always a community within the house, regardless of which night of the week it is. The rooms are cosy and welcoming, with the striking colours and contemporary decor adding a sense of fun to this ‘home from home.’
Our investment in Sedgwick reflects our unwavering commitment to offering the very best for our Junior boarders. With specialist residential staff and outstanding pastoral care, we aim to instill a love for learning and a profound sense of self-worth in each and every student.
Embracing Opportunities
We believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals, and as such, our Sedgwick boarders have access to a plethora of opportunities right at their doorstep. From early morning swims to evening sports hall access, as well as acres of space in the meadows and fields on the campus, our students can explore their passions and talents to the fullest. Our 9-hole golf course, sports campus, cricket nets and ample sports fields allow our boarding students to access the majority of our facilities during boarding time.
Moreover, Sedgwick offers flexible boarding options to accommodate the busy schedules of modern families, ensuring that every child can benefit from our enriching boarding experience.
Fostering Community and Growth
Living within a close-knit community, our boarders learn invaluable life skills such as social confidence and independence. Through collaboration and teamwork, they develop the soft skills essential for success in life beyond school. Our younger boarders get to know our older students through an expansive range of co-curricular activities and our boarding mentoring programme, running in the evenings and at weekends. The ‘Big 6’ characteristics which guide our ethos, reinforce the importance of kindness, confidence, resilience, mutual respect, courage and communication.
Join us as we embark on this exciting new chapter at Sedgwick House, where every child is empowered to thrive and flourish in a supportive and nurturing environment. Here’s to a journey filled with growth, discovery, and endless possibilities.
