Westonbirt Model United Nations
On Friday evening, teams from Westonbirt, Malmesbury and Wells Cathedral School gathered together for the inaugural WESTMUN – a Model United Nations conference, to discuss a wide range of issues facing the global community. Representing the USA, China, Turkey, German and Great Britain, the teams worked incredibly hard to formulate resolutions on topics such as the conflict in Ukraine, global warming, the potential for war in space, regulation of artificial intelligence and crypto-currencies, amongst others.
Deputy Head Academic, Simon Balderson, said of the event;
“It was a hugely enjoyable evening, with a very high standard of debate, requiring a great deal of negotiation and trade-offs between the committees, as each delegate tried to best represent the interests of their country. WESTMUN will now become a regular feature of the school calendar and we look forward to expanding in the future, welcoming many more schools and teams next year!”
