Last weekend, the beautiful grounds of Westonbirt School acted as the perfect backdrop for the senior school summer production; Secret Garden-The Musical. A small cast of 35 pupils from Years 9-12, transported the audience from India to the Yorkshire moors with the re-telling of this classic novel.

With a set in two locations and an upright piano, the audience travelled through the grounds and an ivy-covered archway to reveal the “secret garden”; the perfect spot for theatre and picnicking! With puppetry, songs and musical underscoring throughout, this family-friendly show injected magic and atmosphere to all who watched.

Mrs Atwell’s vision was to create an outdoor, folksy performance which could travel to multiple locations, so watch this space………could the Secret Garden appear near you?
