Westonbirt School has set a magical literacy challenge. Not only does Westonbirt bear a striking resemblance to a famous school of witchcraft and wizardry, but now it needs your help to solve the mystery of its shrunken students! Can you use your imagination and creative writing skills to help us uncover what has occurred? Please watch the below videos in the order as they appear and complete the tasks set by our Master of Mystery.
Watch this video first where our Master of Mystery sets out the first task. He will show you some clues as to what might have happened and lead you in writing a description for the setting of where you think the crime has occurred. Once you have watched the video, please complete this worksheet.
You can have another look around the rooms that are mentioned in the video by clicking on the 3D images below. Move your cursor to look around each room.

Library – have another look at the Library in 3D here.
Your next task is to write a character description of who you think committed the cursed crime. Watch the following video to hear about some suspicious characters that have been spotted in the Westonbirt School grounds. Then use this worksheet to complete your character description.
Finally, it is time for you to describe what you think actually happened in the mystery of the shrunken students! Watch the video below where magical teacher, Miss Combobulation, offers you further clues as to how the crime occurred. Then use this final worksheet to write your account of the crime.
We can’t wait to read your spellbinding accounts as to how the mystery occurred. If you would like, your parents can email them to us by owl (or email) to email@example.com and we will send a magical certificate in return!
