Historic Day as Westonbirt bids farewell to final all-girl cohort
It is an historic day for Westonbirt School as we bid farewell to our final all-girl cohort in Year 11. After 90 years of single sex education, Westonbirt transitioned to co-ed in 2019 and now enjoys an almost 50/50 spilt between boys and girls. After today, when this final group of girls complete their GCSEs, there will be no more single sex year groups at Westonbirt.
While class sizes remain small, the shift to co-education has facilitated growth at the school and an exciting architectural masterplan will see 8 new classrooms and an Astro-zone built on the parkland site over the next few years.
Headmistress, Mrs Dangerfield, says;
“I would like to wish our final all-girl cohort the very best of luck as they leave us after their last GCSE today. We look forward to welcoming them back for results day and for many into the Sixth Form. They will always hold a special place in the history of Westonbirt School.”
