- You are not allowed to keep any medicines in your room. Please make sure that you have handed all medicine to a staff member during your first day.
Fire
During the first 48 hours of your stay, there will be a fire drill. This is a practice, so you know where to go in case of a fire in the school.
It is important that you always evacuate (leave) the building you are in, when the fire alarm goes off and go to the muster (meeting) point.
You must act on any fire alarm in school. Never ignore an alarm.
What do you do?
- If you see a fire, shout “Fire! Fire! Fire!”
- If you can, set off the alarm at the nearest call point.
- If you hear the alarm, evacuate the building quickly and calmly.
- Do not stop to collect your belongings.
Muster points
- Main Building (Dorchester and Badminton) – The grass area at the front of the main car park
- Other buildings: The grass between ADT and the road
Do not re-enter the building until told that it is safe to do so.
Bank
We operate a student bank, where we keep your cash and cards during weekdays.
You should keep some cash or a card with you for use in the tuck shop.
You can take money out before excursions.
Spending Money
You will need to bring enough money to cover what you want to do in your free time on excursion. Generally, tourist destinations are more expensive than standard shops but if you are keen to buy gifts for family and friends or purchase something as a gift for yourself, we suggest in the region of £50 to £60 per week.
We will operate a student bank, keeping your cash safe.
School Grounds
When you have extended periods of free time (perhaps in the evening or on the weekend), you may explore the Westonbirt School grounds.
Before you do this, there are certain things you need to know:
- You MUST not leave the school site. Stay on the school grounds.
- You MUST be visible to staff. If you can’t see them, they can’t see you.
- You MUST not go out alone.
- You CAN walk around the sports fields, Italian gardens and other grounds but you MUST NOT enter the pond or enter private property.
