On Thursday afternoon, Year 12 took part in a Leadership Workshop delivered by their Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Barnes. The group began by thinking about the traits of a great leader and reflected on opportunities they have had in the past to exercise these traits. Following this, we took some time to think about our personal visions for ourselves and where we would lead our futures. The group took the opportunity for a period of calm reflection to visualise a positive future. This led Year 12 to reflect on what their shared vision for Westonbirt would look like and where they could lead the school. They finished by creating a manifesto for their shared future. It read:
- To practise mutual respect and inspire others to do the same.
- To share a commitment to and be involved in the Westonbirt community.
- To continue to promote equal opportunities for all genders and ethnicities.
- To use our leadership in order to inspire all to strive for excellence.
Mrs Barnes said, "I could not have been prouder of the outcomes for the afternoon. Year 12 have a brilliant rapport, and it is incredible to see how they want to extend this feeling vertically through the school community. At a time when the world can feel quite a difficult place, our young people never cease to amaze me in their positivity and generosity."
