As part of Westonbirt’s Global Programmes initiative, Year 12 and 13 students took part in our first International Relations Debate with Lancaster Country Day School (LCDS), our partner school in America. The students at LCDS delivered an interesting presentation on the recent presidential election and explained how the process works.
The debate was a fantastic experience, allowing students to gain the confidence to speak to peers from across the pond though they had never met before. At the beginning students on both sides were a little more reserved but once the questions started to flow everyone become more confident and willing to share their opinions and ideas.
Our next International Relations meeting with LCDS is on Friday 4 December where we will be looking at the differences in celebrations at Christmas.
Whilst Covid-19 has put a stop to many of our activities and made travel difficult, Westonbirt School's global programmes is starting to build back up with many exciting new opportunities available to students in the next couple of years. Please look out for further developments and if you would like to be involved or want more information then speak to Mrs Edwards or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
