Head of Upper School, Mrs Shea, is looking forward to welcoming Year 9 students and their parents to our GCSE Choices evening on Thursday 30 January. She says;
“It is important that students choose GCSE subjects they will enjoy, it is also vital that they are fully informed about what is involved in each of the qualifications they are considering. The Options Evening is a chance for both students and parents to gain guidance from subject teachers so that they know what to expect before embarking on a course.
I would strongly encourage pupils to speak to students in the older years to help them paint a fuller picture and to outline what they most enjoyed or found challenging about the options available. Researching potential career paths should form part of the decision-making process and Thursday evening will enable students to discuss the exciting future routes that may arise from their choices.”
Headmistress, Mrs Dangerfield, says;
“ Breadth of choice will allow students to explore a range of subjects and widen their horizons. Choosing subjects based on passion and interest will encourage pupils to develop motivation for study and will maximise their enjoyment of the next two years. Our robust Skills for Life and careers programmes will complement learning and Mrs Shea will work alongside students and ensure that support required is in place or allocated when needed.”
