The Westonbirt Equestrian Team were on fire this half term. The dressage team were in fantastic form midweek, and the jumping team were at West Wilts.
Hannah and Boots won the 70cm class and qualified for the County Championships at Bury Farm. Tabitha had a brilliant run which would have been even better had she not been obstructed by the cameraman, forcing her to take a wider turn than she had planned.
In the 80cm class, Hannah took her foot off the gas collecting 4 faults on the very last fence as Boots decided her rider wasn’t at the races!
The older girls were not going to let the side down and won the 95cm class against nearly 100 competitors. Being the second team on it was a long wait. Maddie was up first and jumped a brilliant run followed by Amelia who nearly mowed down the photographer as he clearly did not expect anyone to turn so tightly into fence 10! Ava was on next and jumped a beautiful round but sadly Ferdi had the first fence down. This left Isny under pressure to jump quickly and with no mistakes which she managed in fine style. Not only did the team win but Maddie and Amelia came 3rd and 4th respectively in the individual placing, these results qualified the team for Windsor and being the highest placed Gloucestershire team they also qualified for the County Championships with Maddie qualifying as an individual.
We didn't have to wait long for the 1.05m class, being the very first team on and the girls did well to remember a very twisty course. Again they put pressure on all the other competitors with Amelia and Isny jumping clear, Maddie had some poles down along with Ava but it was still good enough to finish 3rd and again qualify for the County Championships. George and Amelia had a textbook round and they also won the Individual County Qualifier.
To finish off an amazing day Isny came 3rd in the 1.10m class, just missing out on qualifying by one place! Wonderful results from a great team of girls. A big thank you to our team sponsor Jo Hansford Photography.
